This Privacy Policy explains how Bhakti Angan (“we”, “us”) handles information across our website at bhaktiangan.com and our Bhakti Angan mobile app. We keep data collection to a minimum and never sell your personal information.
The website (bhaktiangan.com)
Hosting & server logs
Our host keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited) to operate and secure the site. These are not used to personally identify you.
Analytics & cookies
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, for example which pages are visited, approximate region, and device type. This sets cookies and shares limited usage data with Google. We also use Microsoft Clarity, which records anonymized interaction data such as clicks, scrolls, and page navigation, including aggregated heatmaps and session replays, to help us improve the site. Clarity may set cookies and processes this data on Microsoft’s servers under Microsoft’s privacy terms. Neither tool is used for advertising. You can opt out through your browser settings, Google’s and Microsoft’s opt-out tools, or by using private browsing.
Choghadiya tool
The Panchang / Choghadiya page calculates timings in your browser. If you tap “Use my location,” your device coordinates are sent to a third-party geocoding service (BigDataCloud) only to display your city name. We do not store your location.
Contact form
If you write to us through the website, we receive your name, email, and message in order to reply. We do not use it for marketing or share it with anyone else.
The Bhakti Angan app
- The app works without an account. Your favorites, preferred mantra, japa count, daily darshan streak, and reminder settings are stored only on your device.
- The app does not sell personal information, use advertising trackers, or collect analytics.
- Location is optional: if you enable it for Panchang, your location is used only on your device to compute timings and is never transmitted or stored.
- Purchases are processed by Apple. We receive the entitlement needed to unlock Pro, not your payment-card details.
- Notification permission is used only for the daily reminder you choose; photo-library permission only when you save a wallpaper.
- Because the data stays on your device, removing the app removes the data.
Email signup and the weekly digest
If you enter your email to get the festival calendar or the weekly digest, we store your email address, which form you used, your language, and the IP address the signup came from, so we can answer questions about a subscription and block abuse of the form. Your email is also sent to Brevo, the service that delivers our email, together with your language and the broad region derived from your browser’s time zone (for example IN, US or UK) so the digest can show the dates kept where you live. We never receive or store a precise location from this. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.
Things stored in your browser
Alongside the analytics cookies above, the site keeps a few small values in your browser’s local storage: a random identifier (ba_uid) so a “like” on a gallery image is counted once rather than repeatedly, which images you have liked, and whether you have already dismissed a popup. The identifier is a random string, is not linked to your name or email, and is cleared if you clear your browser data. Polylang also sets a cookie to remember your chosen language.
Affiliate links
Some festival pages list puja items with links to Amazon. These are affiliate links, marked as sponsored, and we may earn a small commission if you buy something. We do not see what you buy. Amazon handles that visit under its own privacy policy.
Other services on the site
Our host Hostinger loads a small script of its own on the site, and fonts are served by Google Fonts, which means those providers see the IP address your browser connects from. The choghadiya and Panchang calculations themselves run entirely in your browser.
Sharing, children & changes
We share information only with the service providers named above (our host, analytics, the geocoding service, and Apple) as needed to operate the services. The website and app are intended for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13. We may update this policy; the effective date above reflects the latest version.
