ॐ गं गणपतये नमःThe Story of Ashtavinayaka
The Ashtavinayaka are the eight ancient, self-manifested shrines of Lord Ganesha, set among the hills and rivers of Maharashtra, each with its own form, legend and presiding murti of the Lord.
Pilgrims journey from temple to temple, Moreshwar, Siddhivinayak, Ballaleshwar, Varadvinayak, Chintamani, Girijatmaj, Vighneshwar and Mahaganapati, completing a sacred circuit of the eight Ganeshas.
The Meaning
The Ashtavinayaka pilgrimage honours the many faces of Ganesha and the truth that the divine reveals itself in countless sacred places. To complete the circuit is to seek the Lord’s grace in fullness, and to walk an ancient path of devotion.
