The Story of Vighnaharta

As Vighnaharta, the remover of obstacles, Lord Ganesha is honoured before every undertaking, from the smallest task to the grandest ceremony. Four-armed and serene upon his throne, he holds the noose and the goad, a broken tusk, and his hand raised in blessing.

It was Ganesha who was granted the boon of being worshipped first among all the gods, so that no auspicious work begins without first seeking his grace.

The Meaning

Vighnaharta assures the devotee that with the Lord’s grace, every obstacle, outer and inner, can be cleared. He is the guardian of beginnings and the patron of wisdom and success, invoked at the threshold of all that matters.
