Mahavidya · Tenth of the Ten
Kamalaकमला
The lotus goddess of abundance and grace, the Tantric Lakshmi.
ॐ श्रीं कमलायै नमःThe Story of Kamala
Kamala, the tenth and final Mahavidya, is the lotus goddess, radiant with abundance, grace and well-being, revered as the Tantric form of Lakshmi. Seated upon a lotus and bathed by celestial elephants, she pours forth prosperity of every kind.
She completes the circle of the ten wisdom goddesses, returning the seeker from the fierce heights of transcendence to a sanctified life of beauty, plenty and harmony in the world.
The Meaning
Kamala reveals that the fullness of spiritual wisdom flowers as a blessed and harmonious life. She is grace, abundance and auspiciousness, the lotus that is rooted in the mud yet blossoms unstained. She teaches that the divine is honoured not only in renunciation but in a life made beautiful and whole.
