Live it todayMeet success and setback with the same steady heart.

Whatever a great person does, others follow. Whatever standard they set, the world pursues.

Live it todaySomeone is watching how you live; lead by example.
Bhagavad Gita 3.35

śreyān sva-dharmo viguṇaḥ para-dharmāt sv-anuṣṭhitāt, sva-dharme nidhanaṁ śreyaḥ para-dharmo bhayāvahaḥ.

Better is one’s own duty, though imperfect, than the duty of another well performed. Better is death in one’s own duty; the duty of another brings fear.

Live it todayWalk your own path, even imperfectly, rather than copy another’s.

Devotion

Offering the heart, and being held.

Bhagavad Gita 4.7

Bhagavad Gita 18.78

yatra yogeśvaraḥ kṛṣṇo yatra pārtho dhanur-dharaḥ, tatra śrīr vijayo bhūtir dhruvā nītir matir mama.

Dwelling on the objects of the senses, a person develops attachment to them. From attachment springs desire, and from desire arises anger.

Live it todayWatch where the mind lingers; that is where craving grows.
Bhagavad Gita 2.70

āpūryamāṇam acala-pratiṣṭhaṁ samudram āpaḥ praviśanti yadvat, tadvat kāmā yaṁ praviśanti sarve sa śāntim āpnoti na kāma-kāmī.

Live it todayBe easy to be around, and hard to shake.

The Self

What you truly are, beyond birth and death.

Bhagavad Gita 2.13

dehino ‘smin yathā dehe kaumāraṁ yauvanaṁ jarā, tathā dehāntara-prāptir dhīras tatra na muhyati.

As the embodied soul passes in this body through childhood, youth and age, so it passes to another body. The wise are not deluded by this.

Live it todayChange is the body’s nature; the self within is untouched.
Bhagavad Gita 2.20

na jāyate mriyate vā kadācin nāyaṁ bhūtvā bhavitā vā na bhūyaḥ, ajo nityaḥ śāśvato ‘yaṁ purāṇo na hanyate hanyamāne śarīre.

The soul is never born and never dies. It has not come to be, nor will it cease to be. Unborn, eternal, ever-existing, ancient, it is not slain when the body is slain.

Live it todayWhat you truly are cannot be harmed or lost.
Bhagavad Gita 2.22

vāsāṁsi jīrṇāni yathā vihāya navāni gṛhṇāti naro ‘parāṇi, tathā śarīrāṇi vihāya jīrṇāny anyāni saṁyāti navāni dehī.

As a person casts off worn-out clothes and puts on new ones, so the embodied soul casts off worn-out bodies and enters new ones.

Live it todayEndings make room for beginnings; do not fear them.
Bhagavad Gita 2.23

nainaṁ chindanti śastrāṇi nainaṁ dahati pāvakaḥ, na cainaṁ kledayanty āpo na śoṣayati mārutaḥ.

Weapons cannot cut the soul, fire cannot burn it, water cannot wet it, and wind cannot dry it.

Live it todayThe spirit in you is beyond every wound.
Bhagavad Gita 4.38

na hi jñānena sadṛśaṁ pavitram iha vidyate, tat svayaṁ yoga-saṁsiddhaḥ kālenātmani vindati.

There is nothing in this world as purifying as knowledge. One perfected in yoga finds it within the self in time.

Live it todayTrue understanding cleanses more than any ritual.
Bhagavad Gita 6.5

uddhared ātmanātmānaṁ nātmānam avasādayet, ātmaiva hy ātmano bandhur ātmaiva ripur ātmanaḥ.

Lift yourself by your own self; do not degrade yourself. For the self alone is the friend of the self, and the self alone is its enemy.

Live it todayYou are your own best friend; be that today.
Bhagavad Gita 6.6

bandhur ātmātmanas tasya yenātmaivātmanā jitaḥ, anātmanas tu śatrutve vartetātmaiva śatru-vat.

For one who has conquered the self by the self, the self is a friend. But for one who has not, the very self behaves as an enemy.

Live it todayMaster yourself, and your mind becomes your ally.
Bhagavad Gita 15.7

mamaivāṁśo jīva-loke jīva-bhūtaḥ sanātanaḥ, manaḥ-ṣaṣṭhānīndriyāṇi prakṛti-sthāni karṣati.

An eternal portion of my own self becomes the living soul in the world of the living, drawing to itself the mind and the five senses that rest in nature.

Live it todayA spark of the divine lives within you already.
