Choghadiya Today in Edison

Today’s choghadiya for Edison, New Jersey, worked out from Edison’s own sunrise and sunset in Eastern Time (America/New York). Central New Jersey’s Hindu life is centred on Edison and Iselin, where Oak Tree Road is often called Little India, with temples ringing it from Robbinsville and Cranbury to Bridgewater, Colonia and Morganville. Edison’s clock runs 9 hours 30 minutes to 10 hours 30 minutes behind India’s, so some festivals fall a day earlier here than in India.

Why a date can differ: a tithi (lunar day) begins at the same instant everywhere on earth, but a festival is kept on the local day when its tithi holds at the right moment, such as sunrise or moonrise. Edison keeps a different clock from India, so that moment can land on a different calendar day here. For festivals not listed, see the festival calendar.

Free timed-entry reservations are required on Diwali and on six federal holidays, and the visit page also asks weekend and select Hindu holiday visitors to book a time slot, so reserve before you go.

Not separately. Diwali falls on Sunday, November 8, 2026 on New Jersey’s religious holiday list, and Edison’s 2026-27 calendar (approved March 24, 2026, revised July 21, 2026) shows no Diwali closure.
