Why a date can differ: a tithi (lunar day) begins at the same instant everywhere on earth, but a festival is kept on the local day when its tithi holds at the right moment, such as sunrise or moonrise. Hyderabad’s sunrise and moonrise come at different minutes from Delhi’s, so now and then that moment lands on a different calendar day here. For festivals not listed, see the festival calendar.

Birla Mandir
Incredible India records the white marble temple that Dr B.D. Birla conceived as an offering to Venkateshwara, built by artisans over ten years with an 11-foot idol inside and run by the Birla Group since 1976, on a hillock Telangana Tourism gives as 280 feet high; its article adds Rajasthan marble, a blend of Odisha and South Indian styles and walls carved with the Ramayana and Mahabharata; open 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Chilkur Balaji Temple
Incredible India describes the ‘Visa God’ temple on Osman Sagar where devotees circle the sanctum eleven times when making a vow and 108 times after it is answered, estimates 75,000 to 100,000 pilgrims a week and notes that the temple accepts no monetary donations; Telangana Tourism counts it among the oldest temples to Venkateswara.
Sri Ujjaini Mahankali Temple
Incredible India tells how Suriti Appaiah, a palanquin bearer posted to Ujjain during the cholera outbreak of 1813, vowed to install Mahakali in Secunderabad and kept the vow with a wooden idol in July 1815; the stone idol in the sanctum, holding sword, damaru, spear and amrit vessel behind a silver kavacham, is believed to have been unearthed when the sanctum was built in 1964, and the temple is at its busiest during the Ashada Bonalu; open 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, to 1:00 PM and 10:00 PM on Fridays.
Jagannath Temple
Incredible India records the red sandstone temple built in 2009 as a replica of Puri, with a 70-foot shikharam and carvings by more than 60 sculptors, busiest during its Rath Yatra; Telangana Tourism attributes it to the Odia community under the Kalinga Cultural Trust.
Sri Sri Radha Madanmohan Mandir (ISKCON Abids)
The temple’s site dates its start to 1976 and lists Mangala Arati at 4:30 AM, Sringar Darshan at 7:30 AM, Bhoga Arati at 12:30 PM, Gaura Arati at 7:00 PM and Sayana Arati at 8:30 PM, with darshan 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM and 4:30 to 8:00 PM, and announces its Golden Jubilee from 15 to 18 August 2026 at the Exhibition Grounds in Nampally, 4 to 9 PM each evening, with a boat festival and a Shobha Yatra.
Sri Ramalingeshwara Swamy Temple, Keesaragutta
The district site holds the shrine to have existed since the Treta Yuga: Rama, wishing to install 101 lingas here after the war in Lanka, sent Hanuman to Varanasi for them, and when he returned after the muhurta had passed Shiva gave Rama a self-manifested linga, which stands in the sanctum, while the 101 lingas Hanuman flung aside lie about the hill; the site derives the name from Kesarigiri.
Karmanghat Hanuman Temple
Telangana Tourism counts it among the city’s ancient temples, built around 1198 by the Kakatiya king Prola II.
Balkampet Yellamma Temple
The Hyderabad district’s Bonalu page gives the temple its turn on the festival’s second Sunday, together with Ujjaini Mahakali in Secunderabad, and Telangana Tourism describes it as a popular temple famous for its Bonalu celebrations.
