Chandraghanta wears a crescent moon shaped like a bell, a ghanta, upon her brow, from which she takes her name. Golden of hue, riding a tiger, she bears weapons in her many hands, fierce and resplendent.
She is the form the Goddess takes to protect her devotees and to wage war on evil, the sound of her bell scattering the forces of darkness.
The Meaning
Chandraghanta is courage and serenity joined, ready for battle yet calm within. She bestows fearlessness on her devotees and drives away every negative force, worshipped on the third night of Navratri.
